dr. C. Boer

Christa Boer started her Ph.D. study in 1996 in the department of Anesthesiology and defended her Ph.D. thesis entitled 'Pulmonary Artery Function and Endotoxin. The Dual Role of Nitric Oxide'.  This research was performed in close collaboration between Anesthesiology and Physiology.

After a postdoctoral period at the department of Endocrinology,  UCSD, San Diego, USA, dr. Boer subsequently worked as Assistant Professor in Anesthesiology and Physiology at the VU University Medical Center. During this period (2002-2005) she supervised several preclincial research projects focusing on cardiac remodeling and cardioprotection. Dr. Boer is successfull applicant of several research grant submissions. In 2005, she decided to leave the university and subsequently worked as Medical Advisor in a pharmaceutical company in the Netherlands.

In 2007, dr. Boer continued her academic career as Assistant Professor in the department of Anesthesiology of the VU University Medical Center. She now works as Research Coordinator and as Prinicipal Investigator in the clincial research lines Perioperative Care and ALARM (Amsterdam Lifeliner Analysis of Results and Methods).

Dr. Boer is contributor to several scientific papers in the area of pulmonary function, cardioprotection and cardiac remodeling.
