To determine (1) the course of functional status and (2) the determinants of the course of functional status in elderly patients with sequelae of poliomyelitis, osteoarthritis and Parkinson's disease.

This is a prospective observational cohort study. Patients in each diagnostic category are monitored for a period of 36 months. Functional status is assessed at baseline and after 1, 2 and 3 years, using generic and disease-specific measures of functional status. Primary measures of functional status include subjectively experienced disability in physical activities,, performance in physical activities and subjective quality of life. Primary potential determinants of functional status include physical impairments, comorbidity and cognitive impairments.
